You write down the 5 carbons in a line, with single bonds and fill in the hydrogens around all the carbons to get pentane; the 2nd possible structure is write down a single Carbon then surround it with 4 more carbons. As you fill in the Hydrogens, you'll see 12 hydrogens on the 4 outer carbons which would be called 2,2 methyl propane.
