FALSE! Not everyone on welfare are on it to avoid working. There are many people who have hit hard times and use it the way it was designed. The problem is that many MORE people ABUSE it causing problems for legitimate recipients.SERIOUS QUESTION !!! Who agrees with me : People on WELFARE should NOT be allowed to have kids...TRUE OR FALSE
How would you go about doing that? People go on welfare and then hopefully, somewhere down the line-things get better for them and they go off welfare. My sister had 8 children when her husband ran off with his secretary. She went on welfare for 3 months but couldnt stand it,so everybody got jobs. Obviously, this is not a simple problem. Maybe you could make a law that while you're on welfare, you cant get pregnant. What do you think?SERIOUS QUESTION !!! Who agrees with me : People on WELFARE should NOT be allowed to have kids...TRUE OR FALSE
Many people on welfare deserve it.
I had worked for many years, and fell off a ladder and broke my wrist in two places. It was in two different casts, then therapy for months.
I had two children, my husband ran off with some girl.
I have see the system abused too, but many really do need it .
It is supposed to be ';temporary.';
In Illinois they stopped giving more money for more than two children, and I think it is for two years. It didn't use to be that way, people were on it all of their lives.
I had no income, no support. I had to go on welfare for the first time in my life. I was off work for almost a year!
Get real...lol...
False sorry mate but you are wrong
Well, if I didn't have enough money, I wouldn't have kids, but that's me. I would want to be stable with financial issues so that my child would have a comfortable life, not one filled with money problems. But that's my opinion, and I don't think people with welfare shouldn't be able to have kids. They may be stronger in surviving through the stage than me, and if they want children, let them. I'm not limiting anyone to anything.
-Ciao
FALSE. Obviously some the people answering these questions are people who are well off, have it all together and have no worries. I must admit, i fall somewhat into this category. I'm single with no kids and a great job that pays well. But on the same note, everyone doesn't live in an area where decent paying jobs are available. Granted you shouldn't be having a lot of kids if you can't afford it, but if you live in an area where the jobs are crappy and the health care is even crappier, then birth control is not always an option. For those of you who may not know, welfare is a lifesaver for most people. and for that comment about making welfare hard for those who are already having a hard time, are you kidding me ???? Really !! why do you all think topic of unemployment is discussed by presidential hopefuls? Unless you all with the negative comments are ready to fix the whole welfare problem,I really think you shouldn't respond to something you only have a half *** story on.
Sorry, but false. Everything that has been told to you is true. Not everyone on welfare is lazy. Some have handicaps that you can't see, some have been left stranded. Let's say you are in Ohio and you see someone using a food stamp card--I bet you assume that they are on welfare--well, guess what--no they aren't. My daughter worked full-time before going into military--she got paid $9 an hour--Not enough to keep her and kids fed for a month--so, she received food stamps and medical card. Ohio has welfare to work program and it has gotten thousands off of welfare in the state. They do not have a program for single people unless they are disabled and certified that way by state. They took away all programs that helped older people make it to end of month and if someone is caregiver to a disabled person (like wife) she\he can't get medical help at all. They use to be able to, but can't now. Before you go making judgments, you need to walk in other people's shoes. A lot of times what you see on the surface isn't what it looks like.
TRUE, they should have to take a depo-pevera birth control shot before they get a check. This would insure no kids for a period of time, they get off of welfare the shot wears off...simple enough. Here are some other ideas I have
They also should not be allowed to vote, if you can't make good enough decisions in your life to not be on welfare you don't have any business in the decision making process of deciding who should be in government. All they do is vote for people that give away more government programs. get off of welfare, be able to vote again.
They should have to do at least 20 hours of community service a week. We should get something back from these leeches. While doing this they should be made to wear bright colored vest that have WELFARE written on them. If the usual motivations for a good life don't work for them maybe shame will.
If they also get food stamps they should have them revoked and be given a pallet of food every two weeks. With good nutritional food on it not junk food and steaks. Why are our ';poor'; people so damn fat?
We need to make the welfare system as uncomfortable as possible to get these leeches off of it. Too many use it as a way of life instead of temporary help.
