I've never been impressed with people who resort to calling others an ';idiot'; because they don't agree with a particular belief or non-belief
when it comes to the question of God. It sounds cheap and a obvious adolescent attempt to intimate someones personal integrity.
As a Believer in God;
I also recognize this same tactic through the use of ';Fire %26amp; Hell';. Sort of a turn or burn philosophy that seems to ask the person
to change their minds through the use of fear.
(IMHO) There are extremely intelligent people of both sides of the ';God'; question...and of course the other side of the same coin
we find the opposite is true for both camps.
I have noticed within my own experience that the common thread that
runs through the most intelligent people I have met is the human
quality and rarely seen the ability to demonstrate true humility.
your thoughts please................Isn't it true there are intelligent, thoughtful people on both sides of the ';God'; question?
Yes, I agree with your statement. I think all
persons have a measure of intelligence.
As a Christian, I believe that our Creator
is the greatest intelligent being and the
source of our intelligence as his creation.Isn't it true there are intelligent, thoughtful people on both sides of the ';God'; question?
Yes it is true. What you say extends beyond Monotheism or atheism, and encompasses all Faiths, Beliefs, beliefs, and Worldviews.
Intelligent people can discuss topics over which they may disagree without resorting to childish bickering.
As you put it so well, they demonstrate true humility.
They don't need to feel like they have won the argument, in order to bolster their fragile egos.
Is true many intelligent people at both sides of any issue, people who want believe of English Christian deity God (Kami at Japan), Japanese Shinto supreme deity Ameratsu, Chinese traditional Jade Emperor of Heaven Yu Ti, Hindu deity Shiva, Arab deity Allah, etc. allow emotions and feelings overpower intelligence however, is error want believe anything, people lose objectivity when want believe anything.
Yes, there are. But the whole idea of hell fire is not true and frightening for some who do not know that it is a false doctrine. That's when I want to challenge the individual promoting such a lie about a loving creator. It is doctrines such as that that give God a bad name. That is what is abhorrent to me.
True humility is difficult for anyone to achieve. And yes, I have seen some very intelligent answers on this forum. However, it's difficult for me to understand how intelligent people can consider a piece of literature with as many inconsistencies as the Bible a credible source.
Naturally.
What I don't understand about some of my fellow Christian's is why they feel the need to beat their head against a brick wall. Are only job is to plant the seed. It is up to God if that seed grows. I personally I'm not sticking around for a heated long winded conversation about why I believe or if someone else will. Not my business anyways, that is between God and that person.
Of course there are. I don't think anyone ever said other wise; however, most people, myself included, come to y/a as a source of entertainment, and we don't take it seriously.
There are intelligent atheists, but that doesn't mean they are not blinded to the truth by the god of this world, Satan. Just read 1 Corinthians 1:17-25, with verse 22 explaining the Jews seek after a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom, but neither give them understanding of the gospel of Jesus. Verse 23 says to the Jews Christ is a stumbling-block, and to the Greeks foolishness. I have seen both sides of this on R%26amp;S.
There are thoughtful, intelligent people on both sides. However, R%26amp;S is somewhat a caricature of society; it reflects exaggerations with hints of truth.
your right, people shouldn't call each other idiots. people do have different opinions. unfortunately, only one side is right even though both sides have intelligent people.
Yes there are intelligent and thoughtful people on both sides, but one side seems to have less intelligent and factual evidence for their beliefs in a book...
Absolutely this is true. But when you ask those who are religious what and why they believe, you will see the intelligence melt away to be replaced with superstition.
Yes.
That having been said, I have yet to meet a single Christian who could offer up intelligent, thoughtful reasons for being a Christian.
As Christians we should be even more thoughtful so as to show the love of Christ. I know not Christians practice this. When they are mocked they let their flesh take over and then the fight starts. We need to remember Jesus words ';love your enemy, pray for those who persecute you';
yes I am intelligent and thoughtful.
The great divider is Satan....He has overtaken some and they don't believe any longer
Yes it's true :)
Of course. Many atheists are quite intelligent, and many Christians are also quite intelligent. Using derogatory terms of such nature doesn't add anything to the discussion but more conflict.
You have brought up good points. The answer is yes pertaining to worldly wisdom but the Bible says clearly No!
1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.
Psalms 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
We need not bow down to the idol of supposed intelligence of men who reject the God who created them. Rejection of God shows selfishness first and ignorance second ,
Selfishness because a man who rejects God shows that he loves his sin so much that he does not want God telling him what he may and may not do. Rather than just saying I will not obey, he says There is no God.
Ignorance because he becomes willingly ignorant of the fact of God in spite of the abundance of evidence around him ,( The Creation and the Flood). Therefore he will be without excuse when Fire %26amp; Hell comes .
Paul wrote the Romans .... Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Romans 1:19-22
Peter wrote: For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 2nd Peter 3:5-6
When someone is totally impervious to reason and evidence, and goes blithely on repeating the same illogical, ignorant rantings (particularly about creationism and evolution), then as far as I am concerned that person is an idiot and I have no compunction about calling him or her such.
Added:
My stance, above, is usually expressed when the person is patently offensive in a diatribe against non-believers, in addition to showing his or her gross ignorance.
On the other hand, if the person expressing an opinion retains at least a modicum of intelligence and apparently has a simple lack of knowledge rather than being willfully ignorant, I will refrain from calling that person an idiot.
I agree and think that it is mainly the less intelligent who use the sarcasm and insults as a way of 'proving their point' and showing their 'high intellect' when the truth is that it does just the opposite and they show themselves for what they really are.
However, that said, we all have our breaking point and sometimes resort to using phrases and expressions, which we later regret, simply because someone 'pushed our button' on that occasion and we let ourselves down. That is human nature and has nothing to do with our intelligence or lack of it.
no its no true. Is Hell real?
